Commercial software is one of the largest items to purchase in any creative business. There are alternatives out there, which work well, and probably have the flexibility you require but, if you really need the industrial strength versions, consider educational discount.
Many producers offer a large discount to educational purchasers and you don’t have to be a university buying department to save in this way.
Adobe, for example, have remarkable offers on their popular software packages with savings, off the list price, of over one thousand pounds for some of them.
If you are a student (from 6th form upwards) studying in an accredited educational institution, you can claim the discount. The offer also extends to teachers, lecturers and people contributing to education on a contract. There is also a discount for charities.
Not surprisingly, you will need to give Adobe evidence that you qualify, so check their requirements before you let go of your cash. They don’t give refunds if you later turn out to be telling porky pies!
