Mac ComputerWe have already enthused about the benefits of educational discounts when purchasing top-of-the-range industrial software, but did you know it is also available for hardware?

Apple, have three educational stores on their website and offer discounts on most of their own hardware as well as their own software and selected items from other suppliers.

If you are a student, teacher, lecturer, administrator or other staff member in education, you qualify for the discount.  Just go to the Apple site and select which education store you want to use.  They offer one for schools (and any other education establishment), another for colleges or further education establishments and a third for university and higher education establishments.  You will get the most discount if you are in higher education but the others are not to be sniffed at and can save you a small fortune.

Make sure you are on your college or university network to visit those stores, otherwise you will be unable to see the discounted prices.  If you are not connected to your college network at the moment, you can always order by telephone and get the extra discounts as long as you can show you qualify.

Staff in education work hard, students pay a fortune to learn, so do yourselves a favour and make sure you buy your hardware at a discount.

At the moment Apple have a promotion allowing you to buy a qualifying Mac computer, on educational discount, and an iPod (at the same time), they will then give you cash back up to £130.  Not only do you get a discount on the Mac anyway, but this way you can get a top of the range iPod touch for £22.00 (iPod 8GB £152.00 - discount).

We know it works because we did it!
