Crowdfunder is based in a castle in the UK and there aren’t many crowd funding sites which can say that! It offers funding services with the clear aim of free membership, no joining fees and no ‘funny’ stuff. Quite nice in a world heavy with lots of ‘funny ‘ stuff.
With Crowdfunder, like most of the other providers in this field, you select a target amount to raise and, in this case, decide how fast you want to do it: 30, 45, 60 or 90 days. Pitches for funding projects are split into two distinct sections; the target amount needed and rewards which are offered to potential funders to entice them to take part. If the project reaches its target, it becomes the responsibility of the project organiser to make sure all rewards are distributed to funders.
Crowdfunder takes 5% of the total funds raised only if the target is achieved. If not, no charges are made and pledged funds are put back into the online accounts of funders.
If you want to fund one of the projects you find on Crowdfunder, you register for free, open an account and deposit funds into it using PayPal or a major credit card. Support can then be given to any number of projects on the site.
The site is open to a wide variety of different projects ranging from creative to business. If you do a search for ‘Arts and Crafts’, not a great deal is showing up at the moment - they only just launched, but give it time - perhaps now is right to help fill that section with your crowd funding idea: Exhibition catalogue? Limited edition print? Private view?
