Crevado ImageCrevado - is a portfolio site aimed specifically at artists and provides users with an entirely free, online, portfolio to showcase images of work in a clean and sophisticated presentation.

Let’s face it, “free” often means “cheap” but there is nothing bargain basement about Crevado which might just be the perfect “toe in the water” for artists who need a simple but professional portfolio.

Crevado Portfolios is run by Envision Technologies Ltd, who are based in Cork, Ireland.  You can sign up for free, which is fast and painless, upload your images and have a new portfolio site up and running in minutes.

The interface is clean and functional and gives you a gallery to present your work as well as an ‘about’ page.  The Basic (Free) version can hold up to 30 images in 5 galleries.  That might just be enough to start you off.

They also offer a Plus version at  €3.00 per month which provides 120 images in 10 galleries.  Their Pro version costs €7.00 per month and allows 1000 images, 50 galleries and 10 videos.  You also receive extras including , unsurprisingly, gives you extras including use of a custom web address (www.yourname.com), password protected galleries and PayPal integration.

This service should be particularly useful to the thousands of graduating art and design students who are leaving college and university with a need to “have a presence” on the web.  They will be leaving with thousands of pounds worth of debt, so are not in a position to go splashing out on expensive new websites - perhaps this is the perfect balance; classy and free!

We tested out the free version using our archive of images which we have used here on the site.  It was exceptionally easy to upload them and we particulaly liked the simplicity of changing the order of images in the gallery.  Have a look at what we put togehter in about 10 mins! www.welikeartists.crevado.com
