Behance - promotes itself as "...the world's leading platform for creative professionals across all industries" and they offer an elegant platform for you to be seen.
One of the main differences between this site and many of the other free services is that you need to be invited to join. They don't say how they select you but it appears a painless process. One fine artist we know applied and was accepted almost by return of e-mail.
Their network uses community curation which means content raises to the top of the various galleries and listings, depending on how much the Behance team and site members like it.
Once you have set up your online portfolio, one very nice option is that you are given a web link which 'strips' out the rest of the site and produces something like a mini website for you. If you e-mail this to galleries, clients or curators, they just see YOU, not all the rest of the content from the site. A clever and effective way of putting you first. We don't know of any other free portfolio site which does this.
