Is there anything Google don’t do? They offer a great deal of functional services for free and their Documents service might be just what you are looking for.
Part of a suite of online productivity tools, Documents allow you to write pages of information and then store them online. There are some clear advantages of working this way:
You can get access to your documents from any computer in the world, just by logging into your Google account.
You can allow others to share particular documents so you can work collaboratively.
It’s free.
The downside of this is that you need to be connected to the Internet to access this but, as we are all going wireless, carrying laptops, notebooks, iPads or working from different studios, offices or home, that probably isn’t an issue, as most of these are now permanently connected to the web.
If you have ever typed anything on a computer, you will be able to find your way round Google Documents and be able to carry out basic formatting and layout - more than enough for your daily word-writing needs.
Google also offer online spreadsheets, presentation software (like PowerPoint), drawing tools and forms so you can construct and send out questionnaires. All for free!
If you use Googlemail or Blogger, then you already have a Google account and can access the document service by clicking on ‘Documents’ at the top left of your account screen.
