You know how it is - you need to organise an event, project or presentation and one of the biggest problems is getting everyone together and keeping them focused, while you ‘chew over’ the details.  Knitting sawdust springs to mind! As more and more of us work online, or collaborate with organisations and individuals in other rooms, buildings or time zones, group projects can get very complex very quickly.

Here at WeLikeArtists.com, for example, we work with people in six different countries and we are never all awake at the same time! The site couldn’t exist without exchanges between us, so we do it all by e-mail, and a little online file exchange but, quite frankly, what we do is relatively simple - it’s only a website after all.

With a more complex project, it would be handy to have all the files, messages, appointments, suggestions, amendments, presentations, graphics and deadlines in one place where everyone could access them whenever they needed.  That is just what Huddle aims to do.

Sign up for a completely free 14 day account and you will have an instant online workspace to hold everything you need to plan and refine your project. They give you a couple of weeks to 'noodle' around, have a go at all the bits and piceces they offer and make sure it is right for you.

The site is clean and elegant with understandable navigation and heaps of facilities.  What is really helpful, in our ‘ever connected’ online world, is that you can get at this information from any connected device, so that might be your work or studio computer, your iPhone or some other wireless item with a screen.

Your material is secure, you can set up multiple projects, share and store files, create and edit documents, have group discussions, a universal calendar and unlimited users.  You also get 100MB of free storage to try all this out.  They are clearly thinking that you will like it so much that you will want to upgrade to a more advanced version and they offer several  for you to choose from.

So, who uses Huddle? Several UK government departments are using it to become more efficient and reduce operating costs, including the Home Office and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport; educational establishments such as University College London, University of Birmingham, Harvard and quite a few large companies including the UK Post Office and M&S.

We don’t know of any artists or galleries involved with Huddle yet, but perhaps that is about to change.
