Pixlr - is an online photo editing service which means you don’t have to download any software to your computer. You just visit their website for free! You don't even have to register with them to use their service.
There are two options on the site - Pixlr Express, which offers tools for a ‘quick fix’ and the Full Image Editor if you need to do more complex editing. Try the Express version first and it may do everything you need.
Brilliantly easy to use, you can upload an image from your computer, then select from the ‘Basic’, ‘Adjustments’ or ‘Photo Effects’ bars on the right of the screen.
Make your changes, then save the finished image back onto your computer. That simple!
The system uses the Flash format to make it work and, if you have Flash 10 on your computer, you don’t actually have to upload your image to their website - it makes the changes on your computer directly. If you do need to upload an image, it is automatically deleted from the Pixlr server after 5 mins, so not too much of a issue with privacy!
We used this service for a while when our copy of Photoshop stopped working (long story!) and it saved us the cost of buying a new version of the commercial program!! In fact it saved us £643.90 (the cost of a current edition of Photoshop from the Adobe Website).
