If you read our "Be Image Ready" guide, you may be looking for ways to edit your images which don't involve shelling out hundreds of pounds on commercial software.

We all need to do a 'little' editing at times. Most of these services are websites which allow you to upload your image, edit it online and then download the results back to your computer. Clearly, you need a broadband connection for this, but it does mean you can edit your images from any computer, not just in your studio. It also means it works on any computer with any operating system, so Mac and PC work fine.

There are also free editing programmes you can download to your computer which are well worth a look.

IrfanviewIt calls itself "...one of the most popular [image] viewers worldwide!" and it seems a lot of people do seem to like it.  This small, free, program can help you manipulate all your images in a vast assortment of formats.

Pixlr - is an online photo editing service which means you don’t have to download any software to your computer. You just visit their website for free! You don't even have to register with them to use their service.

Picnik - in its original form was set up as an online images editor in 2005. It has recently been acquired by Google (is there anything they don’t buy?). That said, it is a flexible and effective way of editing and enhancing your digital photos.
