We have used it ourselves and found it simple, easy and reliable. The card works like any debit card so you can pay for things in shops and restaurants, while you are away, without charge. You can also withdraw cash from ATM machines (for a small fee which is much less that a normal UK debit card).
Security is good as well, as you don’t have to carry wads of cash around with you - just the card, which you can instantly cancel if stolen. If you run out of cash on your card, you simply top it up online.
They can give you a card in Euros or Dollars and always publish their exchange rate online so you know what you are getting.
