Glass work by Catherine  Mears

Not surprisingly, our first featured artist would be someone just around the corner from WeLikeArtists.com!

Catherine Mears is a designer / maker based in Nottingham, specialising in a range of unique kiln-formed glass work. Encapsulated text and imagery add depth and detail to her work which can be commissioned to suit any occasion.

Apart from stunning objects such as bowls and place mats, Catherine introduced her  'Captured in Glass' range – where she will place into glass forms your text, photo or imagery to produce a unique, deeply personal and special gift, perfect for any occasion.

 Text and imagery can be produced by the client if they want to put their creative skills to the test. Or Catherine will create a piece based on a client's needs, and any materials provided to her.

Each piece is handmade, unique and tailored to a client's needs and vision.

 

As an independent artist, Cath knows about maximising her resources and admitted, in a recent conversation, that she acquires much of her packing material from the local ASDA fruit isle. They discard piles of perfectly clean and usable bubble wrap each day as they unpack the fruit and veg. Cath just pops along and relieves them of, what for them, is rubbish. This saves her a fortune and allows her to transport her fragile glass pieces to shows and exhibitions safely.
